The Philippines is home to some of the best universities in Asia. Which one is the best school however, remains to be widely debated, especially among alumni or current students of each schools. Filipinos are asking, which really is the best University? Also, how do Philippine universities rank compared to the rest of the world?
London-based Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has released its ranking of the world's top universities for 2021. On the top of the list, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) still continues to be ranked to be the best. MIT is on the top of the list for the eighth consecutive year. Stanford University ranked second while Harvard University ranked third.
On the local level, University of the Philippines continues to be the best University according to the QS ranking. UP ranked 396 for 2021, down from rank 356 in 2020 and rank 384 in 2019. Ateneo de Manila maintained its position at rank 601-650. De La Salle University and University of Santo Tomas both ranked 801-1000, same as their 2020 ranking.
